UNOPS and Better Shelter
This operation enabled UNOPS to provide more than 150 temporary shelters to Saint-Louis residents affected severe coastal erosion. The objective of UNOPS’ intervention is to support the Government of Senegal in provisionally relocating the affected populations and improving their living conditions by following international good practices and standards.
The severe coastal erosion on the Northern edge of Senegal has forced hundreds of people to leave their homes, collapsing under the waves. Eroding shorelines are a global problem, made worse by the rising sea levels that result from climate change.
