UNHCR and Better Shelter
UNHCR provided 200 Better Shelter units for refugees in Serbia, most of them had arrived from Syria and were in transit during their journey to Western Europe.The shelters were used as temporary shelters for accomodation.
In 2015, Serbia saw an unprecedented number of refugees arriving in the country, most of them with the intention of continuing their journey to reach Western Europe. UNHCR supported the Serbian Governement in operational coordination activities such as the registration of all the refugees, councelling on asylum procedures and family reunification. UNHCR also prvided provided shelter, medical support and other basic support for refugees in various sites accross the country.
