Reception capacity
The conflict in Ukraine beginning in February 2022, activated immediate action from neighbouring countries in central and eastern Europe, including Poland, Slovakia, Romania, Hungary and Moldova.
More than 7 million Ukrainians were forced to flee across the border, with nearly 2 million registering for temporary protection in Poland, the highest number in Europe.
