SEEDS and Better Shelter: partnering for impact
Better Shelter and SEEDS have worked together for several years to support disaster-affected communities across India. SEEDS has used Better Shelter frames for temporary vaccination hubs, schools and housing in Kerala, Assam and beyond. Together, the teams are now piloting a new shelter portfolio, guided by the needs and experiences of the people who live in them.

SEEDS
The Indian NGO Sustainable Environment and Ecological Development Society (SEEDS) was founded in 1994 with one clear aim: helping people exposed to disasters and climate change to rebuild and thrive. They work with communities to restore homes, schools and infrastructure, introduce nature-based solutions and build local skills and partnerships for long-term resilience. Their vision is to turn vulnerable communities into resilient and thriving ones, equipping people with the tools, technologies, and connections they need to reduce loss, suffering and climate risk.
Better Shelter
Better Shelter is a Swedish non-profit foundation with a mission to make life safer and more dignified for people who have been forced to flee. We design and deliver temporary shelters that offer protection, privacy, and a sense of stability in the midst of crisis. From refugee camps to rebuilding efforts after disasters, our shelters help families take the first step toward restoring daily life. The shelters have been exhibited at MoMA in New York, the Design Museum in London, and the Venice Architecture Biennale, and nearly 100,000 have been delivered to more than 90 countries, together with partners like the IKEA Foundation, UNHCR, and the Red Cross.
