The humanitarian crisis in northwest Syria remains critical. The ongoing conflict, compounded by the devastating earthquakes that struck Türkiye and northwest Syria in February 2023, has displaced over 6.6 million people in Syria. The affected communities face many challenges, including limited access to basic needs, healthcare, and education.

We partnered with Save the Children and local NGOs to help people rebuild their lives. In collaboration with the NGOs Bonyan and ATAA, Save the Children developed a project to provide safe and dignified spaces for different humanitarian activities. These include education, child protection, psychological support, and health. The project was completed by installing 204 Relief Housing Units (RHUs).

I love studying but couldn’t continue because of the war and earthquakes.”

Marah, a student in the school

Marah, a 12-year-old girl, lives in a camp in northwest Syria with her mother and siblings. After the earthquakes, she couldn’t go to school, which significantly impacted her life. With our RHUs now serving as schools, Marah has been able to return to school, receive psychosocial assistance and build a better future for herself.

“The school is great; we have a garden to play in, and our teacher often joins us. Things are better now because I can study and be with my friends.”
