The Dominican Republic is host to the most Venezuelan refugees in the Caribbean subregion, with the refugee population totaling over 100,000. When the COVID-19 pandemic spread across the country in May 2020, the Inter-Agency Coordination Platform for Refugees and Migrants from Venezuela (R4V) donated 25 RHUs to support efforts responding to the pandemic. The RHUs were installed as isolation centres and health facilities to treat both host and refugee populations affected with COVID-19.
