In December 2021, UNHCR, through the Disaster Response Coordination Unit (DRCU) donated 48 RHUs to Kyrgyzstan, adding to the 72 RHUs which UNHCR donated two years prior. By the April 2021, 60 RHUs had already been installed for conflict-displaced families in the Batken region, at the Kyrgyz-Tajik border.

Kyrgyzstan is also vulnerable to multiple natural hazards, compounding on risks to the general population. The 48 RHUs are reserved for deployment by the Kyrgyz Red Crescent National Society in the event of disaster or emergency situations.
