The war in Ukraine affected every country with which it shares a border, including EU member states, Poland, Slovakia, Hungary and Romania, ultimately causing the largest refugee crisis in the world. One year after the war, Romania was host to over 100,000 Ukrainian refugees, most of whom were mothers with their children.

In order to help build reception capacity, the Swedish Red Cross donated 10 RHUs to the Romanian Red Cross, installed by a team of local volunteers.
